How to Find Your Perfect Property
Owning a property is the ultimate dream for many. In many countries property-owning is not a priority but here in the UK it is still top of the list for most people. While a lot of people share the ideal of owning a property, what that dream property is differs from person to person.
For some it’s the old-fashioned three-bedroom house with front and back garden and a white picket fence. For others it’s a trendy city apartment with fabulous views and all modern appliances. Others like the idea of a period property with original features. For some the country life beckons while for others it’s the bright lights of the city.
There are so many different kinds of properties it’s hard to know which is the right one for you. To determine this you have to consider several factors
Size
Of the factors to consider, some are just basic needs. Size for example is a basic requirement. How big does the property need to be? How many rooms does it have to have? You may have to make compromises due to your budget but, money permitting, what is the minimum number of rooms you will take? How big must the garden be? Do you want a separate kitchen and dining room or is that not important? You should answer all of these questions before you start your search.Location
Location is one of the most important factors to consider when it comes to finding your dream house. You may have to make some compromises in order to meet your size and location needs. Inner city properties or properties in more affluent areas will be much more expensive. These 'affluent' areas are usually judged so because of their location. A four bedroom property in central London for example is going to cost much more than a four bedroom property somewhere miles out of town.Decide what is most important to you, what amenities you must be close to, what transport links you will need and compare this with your need for space. What takes priority? Living in the city centre may be a dream of yours but if you have a large family and all you can afford in your budget is a studio apartment then it’s not going to work is it?
Lifestyle
Of course while size, location and price take priority when it comes to finding a property, finding your ‘dream’ property requires you to consider your lifestyle. What type of person are you? A city girl who loves to be in the thick of it is not going to be happy in a quiet country cottage. An out-doorsy type who craves peace and quiet will find themselves very unhappy situated a stones throw from a thriving nightlife, even if the property is ideal. A trendy, flash apartment may not have the cosy atmosphere a newly married couple want.Don’t fall for the estate agents spiel. A house may be perfect on paper, but is it perfect for you? Consider what you want out of the property and not what you should want. After all it’s you who is going to make that ‘house’ your ‘home’.
